Lloyds job losses

Lloyds officially announced a further 2100 job losses last night; staff had been called to meetings and many will have to reapply for thie existing jobs.

Strangely the bank is closing some commercial centres-mostly in the West Country and Lincoln.  What does this say about their expoesure or commitment to the commercial market – or perhaps merely reflcects the lower levels of activity and hence like the customers that used this service and the brokers that fed it- the market has shrunk and there is surplus capacity and so costs need to be cut.

Morale in the bank is not high – there has been a steady parade of job custs over the last few months- death by a thousand cuts.
